Within the Workplace Strategies + Planning (WS+P) department, the Workplace Planner is part of a unique team of creative design professionals in a government setting focused on bringing new and innovative design and strategic accommodation planning ideas to future-oriented government work environments, such as Hybrid Workplaces and our ShareSpace coworking initiative. The role of the Workplace Planner is to provide professional planning expertise directly to customers, internal project teams (IPTs) and contractors in the qualification, planning, definition and design phases of all major space projects. Main planning tasks include leading the planning phase for space change projects, including providing needs analysis to confirm customers functional requirements, options development that balance client needs and corporate stewardship, feasibility planning to confirm feasibility of the best solution for government, strategic scenario planning to respond to often confidential and highly sensitive client program delivery or community based initiatives as well as planning oversight in project implementation as part of a cross-functional project team. The Workplace Planner develops opportunities, provides planning leadership and education to support the implementation of government’s Future Workplace Strategy. The Workplace Planner plays a critical role in the annual space planning process which is the annual strategic review of Government’s leased and owned real estate portfolio leading to increased utilization and annualized operational savings.

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience

  • A professional qualification, preferably in architecture and/or interior design or 2 or more years space planning experience directly related to commercial office real estate planning.
  • Recent job experience (in the last 3 years) using architectural computer aided-drafting software (CAD).
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the preparation and management of commercial office real estate planning and design and business-case development.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience defining real estate planning solutions.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with job experience using Vectorworks 2019 or later.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working in Mac OS.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience using SketchUp or 3D visualization software.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience using Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere etc.).
