Position: Ski & Snowboard Instructors (Level 3&4)
Department: Winter Sports School
Location: Fernie Alpine Resort
Reporting to: Winter Sports School Directors
Availability: December 2023

Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. is looking for Ski (CSIA Level 3 & 4) and Snowboard (CASI Level 3 & 4) instructors at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Winter Sports School Supervisors, instructors will have CSIA or equivalent certification, strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, will be excellent communicators and team players. We focus on building and maintaining long lasting relationships with our staff and guests and encourage you to come “Experience the Ultimate”.

Some of the responsibilities for the position include, but not limited to:

Duties:

  • To ensure a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for both guests and staff
  • To assist and upsell guests at every opportunity
  • Ensure public and personal safety on lifts
  • Offer the highest degree of guest service
  • Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski within instructors’ certification level, group lessons to privates, adults and children
  • Complete lesson ability reports & relevant administration forms as required
  • Knowledge and adherence to the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Participating in the creation of school group itinerary plans and organization
  • General on hill tasks and maintenance as required
  • Acting as ambassadors and hosts at various functions for the resort on and off the hill
  • Know and abide by all RCR Policy & Protocol and Safety Management Program

Qualifications:

  • Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) certification required, Level 3 & 4
  • Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) required, Level 3 & 4
  • CSIA / CASI Level 1 & 2 course conductor status an asset
  • Dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic professionals with strong customer service skills
  • Minimum 3 years of Ski industry instructing experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, working in a team environment
  • Physical fitness is an asset as the role is physically demanding and all applicants must be capable of performing the job duties listed above in an outdoor mountain environment.

Compensation:

  • 7 to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
  • Level 3 starting wage $25.00 / hr, Level 4 starting wage $30.00 / hr
