The Department of Families is looking for qualified candidates to fill the Resource Coordinator positions located in Brandon and Dauphin.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted, Full Stage Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post secondary education (diploma) in Human Services with related work experience. Other combinations of related education, training and experience may be considered at a commensurate or underfill classification and salary level
  • Experience working with children, families and/or adults in a social services setting to plan, coordinate or implement services.
  • Experience in human resource management activities such as recruitment and labour relations, preferably within a unionized environment, and the ability to lead and supervise a team.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in monitoring expenses, scheduling staff and maintaining confidential records.
  • Experience interpreting and applying acts, regulations and/or policies and procedures
  • A strong understanding of cultural and socio-economic differences
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar software applications

Duties:
The Resource Coordinator is responsible for duties relating to the delivery of services for multiple programs that includes Community Living disAbilities and Childrens’ disAbilities Services programs. Services are delivered in accordance with the Vulnerable Persons Act, along with the corresponding standards and service delivery principles. This position will be responsible for the Employment and Income Assistance program which is a last resort program intended to meet the basic needs of eligible participants, encouraging access and participation in the workforce for employable participants. The program is intended to meet the special needs of the disabled ensuring their inclusion in the community while respecting their independence. Primary duties involve hiring and management of family support/direct service workers; ongoing monitoring and reporting regarding compliance with program legislation and policies; providing program information to Case Managers, Family Support/Direct Support Providers, parents and community groups; and the development of new in home and community services. Other major activities include: case management (i.e. assessing needs, intake, service planning and delivery, counseling); service coordination; developing independence through employment; liaising with participants and all the levels of the private and public sector. Conducts activities based on knowledge and understanding of other health and social services programs.
