The BC Vital Statistics Agency is a national leader in the use of information technology. We are looking for a programmer analyst to help maintain that reputation.
The Vital Statistics Agency (VSA) is responsible through legislation for the following registries: births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages, change of name, adoptions, and wills. VSA registers all vital events occurring in British Columbia and maintains registries and records of those events. The systems unit develops and maintains a variety of applications including legacy Java-based web applications, new ASP.Net applications; an Oracle Forms application for internal operations; and a B2B ebXML messaging system. The web applications allow service providers across BC to register vital events and offer services, and they allow the public to register births and to request documents.
This position contributes to the technical design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of VSA information systems and services. This position also provides operational support for the agency’s applications and interacts directly with end users.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline and 2 years or more of recent related experience OR Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline and 3 years or more of recent related experience
- Note: “Related experience” refers to actual experience providing technical design, development, maintenance, and support to application systems.
- experience with SQL query development
- experience with system development in ASP.net
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:
- Java/J2EE
- ASP.NET Core
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Reports
- PL/SQL development
- Java Server Faces (JSF)
- Oracle ADF
- Struts web application framework
