Grade : SGEU.08.

Information Management Services (IMS) of the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan is seeking an enthusiastic individual to ensure that the Records Disposal process administered by the Archives is properly documented and adhered to as per The Archives and Public Records Management Act.


As a Disposition Management Archivist, reporting to the Director of IMS, you will review and process requests from a wide variety of government clients (ministries, crown corporations, boards, agencies, commissions, etc.) to ensure compliance with current disposal requirements and to facilitate historical appraisal of records. In addition, you will be responsible to update, maintain and monitor the records disposal and the signing authority logs; to advise on issues concerning disposal of records; to respond to records and information management (RIM) inquiries; and to communicate to government clients current RIM practices, policies and procedures developed by IMS. You will also develop and deliver RIM training (in-person and online), assist in research and in development of RIM policies and guidelines. You will participate in and contribute to program meetings and meetings with clients; prepare both routine and specific reports as requested; and develop and maintain effective communication with government clients.


In addition, this position will assist in activities related to historical appraisal and acquisition of records including the physical transfer of records to the Provincial Archives.


The position will also perform other tasks related to information and archival management as assigned by the Director, in keeping with the scope and classification of this position.


Typically, knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Archival Science, History or a related Social Science supplemented by experience and training or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience in records management and archival practices.


Candidates may be required to write a pre-screening test.
