The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) is an extensive collaborative network operating as a not-for-profit with a vision of ‘Driving excellence in policing professional development.

Established in 2004, CPKN has since evolved to earn its standing as a trusted, reliable, an integral component of the Canadian and First Nations policing services and the communities they serve.

Who You Are

Reporting to the Director of Outreach and Communications, the Communications Coordinator provides strategic, administrative, and technical support for all marketing and communications functions of CPKN.

This position acts as the key source for communications activities, initiatives, and analysis. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing all communications functions including;

  • writing and editing a wide variety of communications materials;
  • distributing information to various internal and external audiences;
  • nurturing and developing mutually beneficial relationships;
  • organizing and maintaining various tracking and monitoring systems;
  • managing and monitoring CPKN social media platforms;
  • reactive and proactive media relations activities; and
  • working collaboratively within the Outreach and Communications team to undertake strategic outreach, marketing, and communication opportunities to advance the goals of CPKN.

Qualifications

  • University degree with a focus in communications, public relations, or the equivalent.
  • At least three years working in a communications role.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and experience using social media analytics for data-based decision making.
  • Strong written and communications skills.
  • Aptitude for fostering positive relationships and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Strong experience in managing communications and promotions for events.
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.

This position offers an annual salary between $60,000 - $75,000 and a benefits package. Please note that CPKN is a hybrid workplace and as such, there is the expectation that the incumbent will reside in Prince Edward Island and be in the office several days per week.
