The Ministry of Children & Family Development offers a variety of programs and services, including adoption, programs for children with support needs and mental health concerns, community resources for children and youth in or transitioning from government care, child welfare, and support for youth involved in the justice system. Delivery of services across the province is supported by a provincial office based in Victoria that focuses on corporate, financial, policy, information management, technology, legal, legislative, and human resource programs and supports.

The Adoption and Permanency Branch is responsible for supporting timely permanency planning and adoption for children and youth in care throughout the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies and the practice oversight of Licensed Adoption Agencies. The branch provides direct services to the public and stakeholders throughout BC, Canada and internationally in the administration of Adoption Registries. Pursuant to the Adoption Act, the branch operates five registries including the Adoption Reunion Registry, the Inter-country Registry, the Openness Exchange Registry, the Post-adoption Openness Registry and the Parents’ Registry.

This position receives, reviews, and validates incoming submissions to the branch, and clarifies case information with clients. The position also makes initial determinations or recommendations within established criteria and guidelines.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a records management environment.
  • Experience providing administrative/clerical support.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preference may be given for the following:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience applying legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in the use of CLIFF correspondence system
  • Minimum 6 months of experience using MCFD applications such as: CRMS, ARCS/ORCS, ICM, MIS, AMS
  • Completed post-secondary coursework in office administration.
  • Experience making meeting and travel arrangements
