As an Anti-Racism Consultant, you will support the work of the Anti-Racism Program Team and Community Strategies. You will be responsible for creating anti-racism actions that will safeguard public dignity and ensure respectful, equitable, inclusive, and fair service delivery to Indigenous, Black, and diverse Racialized Calgarians. Primary duties include:
  • Provide strategic leadership, consultation, facilitation and coordination of the anti-racism work within the Community Strategies Business Unit.
  • Acts as a consultant on anti-racism to the Director, management team, leadership team and staff.
  • Strategically and collaboratively respond to day-to-day issues and high priority and politically sensitive items.
  • Support the work of the business unit team to conduct an internal review of internal practices and policies, identify areas requiring change and identifying means to address systemic racism, inequity and discrimination that Indigenous, Black and diverse Racialized peoples.
  • Coordinate the writing of an overall Anti-Racism Action Plan for the business unit which includes priorities identified through The City off Calgary Anti-Racism Strategic Plan, The Racial Equity Assessment Model, engagements, organizational reviews, and safety analysis.
Qualifications
  • A degree in public administration, humanities (e.g., social work, sociology), political science or related field and at least 5 years progressively more responsible experience in areas such as racial justice, anti-racism, human rights, diversity and inclusion, municipal leadership, strategic program development or organizational change; OR
  • A Graduate degree in public administration, humanities (e.g., social work, sociology), political science or related field and at least 3 years of progressively more responsible experience in areas such as anti-racism, human rights, diversity & inclusion, municipal leadership, strategic program development or organizational change.
  • Lived and living experiences as a member of an underrepresented community or experience working with and as an ally for persons from an underrepresented community will be considered an asset.
  • A high level of trust and reliability to support the fast-paced, high profile, and politically sensitive activities of the role.
  • Demonstrated abilities to exercise a flexible, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and non-judgemental approach to people and work.
  • Demonstrated competencies in strategic and analytical thinking, decision making, and leadership.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Political acumen and the ability to work effectively with a variety of partners while exercising initiative and good judgment.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $42.09 – 56.27 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
