Role


Reporting to the Regional Director, The Executive Assistant provides support to Central Region in areas of issues management and assistance to both the Regional Director's office and the Assistant Deputy Minister's office.



The Executive Assistant proactively manages issues by investigating and working with regional managers to respond to issues or propose solutions. Part of this role is ensuring the Regional Director and regional management team are aware of emerging issues. The majority of the region's projects and services are public facing and require effective communication with key stakeholders. With regional staff located across Central Alberta, there is a strong need to ensure high quality and consistent delivery of coordination, messaging, and services.



The main responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant are (but not limited to):


  • Coordination of processing Action Requests, Briefing notes and Albert Government website responses
  • General Administrative Support to the Regional Director
  • Records Management
  • Participate in business unit goal setting and prepare information packages for Regional or Section Strategic Planning sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Required:

  • High School Diploma supplemented with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience with administrative duties as well as a good working knowledge of government structure
    • Related post-secondary administrative training is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures governing the region as well as an understanding of the region's interaction/role with other public and private bodies.



Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Desired:

  • Knowledge and experience with software applications, such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and GoA software applications
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recommend viable and effective administrative solutions and compile, summarize and coordinate information.
  • Knowledge of established guidelines regarding standardized format and layout for correspondence. This requires exercising considerable judgment in applying the guidelines to develop/monitor/edit work submitted by other areas and to ensure priorities are set and met.

$1,884.99 to $2,307.87 bi-weekly ($49,198 - $60,235/year)
