This is public contact, clerical and typing work of some complexity in scheduling and processing applications for use of recreation or fine arts facilities and registrations for various recreation programs. An incumbent acts as a point of contact for community groups and the general public providing information related to recreation facilities and programs, including bookings, facility rentals, and program registration. Ensures that those booking facilities obtain required permits and meet eligibility requirements; provides liaison with and between groups and individuals using facilities and those registering for various programs, answering enquiries and handling complaints. Maintains booking and registration schedules; processes fees, issues receipts, and prepares cash reports; maintains various departmental files; prepares correspondence; performs related typing and clerical work. Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial and typing courses plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of department facilities, programs, booking, and registration procedures as applicable to the work; of clerical recordkeeping procedures, modern office methods, business English, spelling, arithmetic and punctuation. Working knowledge of cash register operation and cash handling procedures. Ability to compose routine correspondence and memorandum and arrange format for reports, tabulations, summaries and related material; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal contacts and to deal effectively and courteously with the public; to exercise initiative and make decisions in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies. Skill in typing rapidly and accurately; in the operation of the computer systems, office applications, and equipment related to the work.
Pilot Recruitment:
This position is posted under the terms of the 2023 Inside Memorandum of Agreement to enable the senior capable applicant to be confirmed into the regular full time position, subject to the successful passing of skills tests applicable to this classification, and that they are not subject to a performance management plan, and they have no discipline or recorded safety infractions in the previous eighteen (18) months.
