The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement's mission is to enhance economic growth and support quality of life by managing the Wascana park system and providing recreation, sport, heritage and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. The Ministry is currently seeking dynamic and highly motivated individuals who are flexible team players for the position of Groundskeeper. Reporting to the Supervisor, these positions will be involved in the maintenance program.

As a Groundskeeper, you will perform general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. You will operate light equipment such as light trucks, push mower, weed trimmer, rototiller, hand tools, and other equipment as directed. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, and pick up and disposal of garbage and debris. This position involves frequent lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and equipment. You will comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, and WHMIS. You must possess a current valid Driver’s License and be available to work on weekends.

The successful candidates will have knowledge of basic cleaning methods (materials, equipment, and methods commonly used in housekeeping/janitorial and sanitation activities), safe equipment, and building operation, maintenance and minor repair.

The successful candidates will have experience and ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments, and contribute towards a positive working environment. You will have ability to respond accurately, clearly, and courteously to inquiries from the general public. You will have ability to physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying, or moving supplies and equipment such as picnic tables and cleaning supplies.

Please note these positions are to perform work from mid-April to mid-October annually. Hired candidates are recalled for work every spring and laid off every fall.
