The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Community Development & Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technologist is responsible for assisting the CDE team with varied assignments requiring a broad understanding of the field of engineering and may also require specialized knowledge, as well as knowledge of interrelated effects of the work upon other areas of the business. This role is responsible for:
- Assist with the coordination of the planning, design, construction and rehabilitation of the Town’s infrastructure;
- Ensuring infrastructure systems are safe, efficient, cost effective, customer oriented and constructed in accordance with good engineering standards and practices;
- Providing engineering advice and technical support to staff and public/private sectors;
- Assisting with ensuring all work is compliant with relevant provincial and municipal statutory requirements;
- Reviewing infrastructure related to new development and subdivision applications;
- Conducting site inspections, liaising with appropriate stakeholders;
- Developing a full working knowledge of Towns design and construction specifications and all aspects of development and subdivision processes including administration of
- Construction Completion Certificates and Final Acceptance Certificates;
- Assisting with the preparation of reports for submission to regulatory authorities;
- Assisting with the preparation of grant applications and claims for funding through provincial and federal grant programs;
- Other engineering related projects as required.
What You Bring
- A diploma in Engineering Technology from an accredited program;
- CET certification and in good standing with ASET would be considered an asset;
- 3 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning;
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Sound knowledge of good engineering standards as well as provincial and municipal statutory requirements;
- Strong public relations and customer service skills;
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software.
