DIRECTOR OF SHARED SERVICES
Full-Time - Hybrid Nova Scotia - HQ located in Truro, NS
The members of the Inland Group of Companies (Inland Technologies, IDS and Quantem Aviation Services) are highly experienced in environmental management, aircraft de-icing, ground handling and pretty much any other aviation support service you can think of. We operate at over 50 airports in four countries. Inland Technologies core business is the delivery of airport environmental compliance programs. We are continuously innovating the technologies we use to provide our range of services including, spent aircraft de-icing fluid collection and recycling, wastewater management, and aircraft de-icing fluid manufacturing for reuse.
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Director of Shared Services is responsible for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and other areas related to daily finance operations. The primary focus of this role will be to transform the function by aligning the current processes, and implementing changes in order to streamline and centralize the processes in different jurisdictions. The Director of Shared Services will build and lead a high-performing team, will develop strong working relationships with business partners and deliver high quality service for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of finance operations shared services functions, ensuring that services are delivered in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Lead the strategic design and implementation of processes and re-engineering the finance operations function
- Support the team leaders and provide excellent internal and external customer service for the accounts payable & receivable processes.
- Translate requests from business operations and executive management into actions for the shared services team.
- Assess the risks faced by the shared services team and ensure that the control environment is fit for purpose, while balancing the objectives of efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness
- Negotiate service standards with internal and external business partners.
- Provide recommendations on tools, technology, and process changes to achieve the vision for the department.
- Work collaboratively with all areas of the business to provide solutions to challenging situations and support and respond to customer questions/queries.
- Interact effectively and closely with the financial reporting team, considering process improvements to contribute to accelerating reporting timelines.
- Conduct performance reviews of the shared services team and assist staff with building their personal development plans.
- Assist in preparation of required deliverables for annual external audit and periodically internal audits.
- Involve in other business projects if required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
AR Manager, AP Manager, and Payroll Manager.
Travel:
Some travel will be involved in this position.
Key Requirements:
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in a shared services environment, ideally in a complex organization.
- A highly driven, energetic, and collaborative individual who is passionate about making an impact upon the business.
- Knowledge of different business functions, principles, and processes.
- Previous success of enhancing business performance by partnering with the business.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills.
- Thrives on adapting to a broad array of complex challenges and a high level of accountability.
- Advanced Excel skills – including experience of creating and using macros, Pivot Tables, and advanced formulas.
- Excellent system knowledge
- Proven experience of successfully leading a team.
