About Our Opportunity
The Industry and Market Development Branch provides leadership in the development of new programs in agriculture and works to support producers with a range of customized extension resources and business tools. The division is also responsible for managing the promotion and consumption of Nova Scotia food through a growing range of market channels and collaboration.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Industry and Market Development the Director of Programs will have the opportunity to lead a dynamic team that is focused on creating and evaluating programs that serve a variety of industry needs. The Director of Programs is a trusted advisor to industry, a relationship builder and strategist, who recognizes and acts on opportunities to leverage inter-governmental partnerships.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and monitoring the development of programs and their alignment with departmental strategies and policies.
- Strengthening opportunities for cross-government and industry collaboration
- Leading the strategic direction and operations of the Programs division
- Representing the Programs division in federal and provincial forums related to program development
- Leading the development of internal and external communications related to programs
- Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources
About You
You have a post secondary degree in a related discipline (such as Commerce, Agriculture, Economic Development) and a minimum of five years of program development related experience, preferably within an agriculture or business development setting. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
As the successful candidate, you have strong knowledge and awareness of
- Program development and evaluation practices
- Human resource development
- Best practices in seeking out industry engagement
You are an innovative thinker with excellent communication and teamwork skills, who provides strong attention to detail. As a team leader, you are to adapt to changing and rapidly developing priorities as they arise. You possess a well-developed knowledge of business, internet, and email applications such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Additional Assets:
- Experience in preparing and delivering reports and strategic recommendations to senior management
- Experience working for and with government, business, and industry associations
Equivalency

Pay Grade: EC 13
Salary Range: $3,918.14 - $4,897.66 Bi-Weekly
