The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure seeks a highly-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively direct, manage and administer various construction programs within the province. This position will be located in Regina, Prince Albert or Saskatoon.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Construction Branch, the Construction Delivery Director will be responsible for managing various Capital and Preservation construction programs within Saskatchewan. You will lead the development and management of construction programs which includes responsibility for optimizing the execution of the program by working with various other teams and branches as well as those responsible for the design portion of the program. You will also provide technical expertise in roadway design and construction engineering, contract administration and dispute resolution to expedite the efficient and effective delivery of provincial road improvements.

The Director will have experience working with Rural and Urban Municipalities. You will represent or participate on behalf of the Ministry to resolve design and construction issues with private individuals, public agencies, and external stakeholders. You will also have experience managing the performance of complex projects and programs, and be familiar with understanding trends and methods to improve performance.

The ideal candidate will bring creative and innovative solutions to the complex issues surrounding the building of our transportation system. You will possess experience working with external consultants on major projects and programs. Experience managing both internal project management staff as well as external owner’s engineers will be considered valuable experience. Strong negotiation and partnership-building skills will assist you in working collaboratively with internal stakeholders as well as industry stakeholders and will be considered essential to the role of the Director.

To qualify for this position, you must be eligible to register for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). You must have substantial experience and knowledge of project management, asset management, maintenance and preservation, operations, design, construction, contract administration, and contract law.

Should this position be awarded to an internal candidate, due to office space constraints the successful candidate will be required to remain located in their current office – office space in a different location will not be considered.
