Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a Corporate Finance Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will play an essential role as part of a team working on a particular transaction (sale, merger and acquisition (M&A) and financing) or business development efforts (pitches)

  • Supporting the team in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients

  • Conducting thorough research on companies and industries

  • Obtaining needed information from available client data and conducting appropriate financial analysis

  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external marketing materials (teaser, confidential information memorandum (CIM), management presentation, etc.)

  • Preparing financial models to support analysis in proposals and transaction documentation

  • Identifying key strategic & financial buyers/investors

  • Managing the transaction’s status reports and more

  • The candidate will be required to work extended hours on an as needed basis

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Corporate Finance and/or Commerce

  • Completion or progression toward an accounting or finance designation (CPA, CFA, MSc or MBA) would be an asset

  • Relevant work experience in financial services – accounting firm, investment banking or commercial banking would be an asset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in Capital IQ as an asset

  • Comprehensive financial and accounting skills and solid understanding of cash flow, financial modelling (would be an asset) and valuation methodologies (would be an asset)

  • A keen interest in M&A including but not limited to a basic knowledge of the standard M&A process and an understanding of key local investors

  • Eager to participate in business development opportunities and initiatives

  • A proactive and dedicated self-starter who is quick to learn and apply new concepts with a demonstrated ability to be creative and effective in issue resolution

  • Ability to take initiative to manage numerous projects simultaneously under time constraints
