The Ministry of Social Services, Community Living Service Delivery requires an energetic and empathetic individual for the Center Service Area, in the Saskatoon office. Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will support and empower the community to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities to live more independently and participate more fully in their communities.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients including assessment, individual program planning, counselling of individuals and/or families, referral and follow-up to residential, day programs or other service systems, and crisis intervention, as well as consult with community-based organizations (CBO's) regarding individual client and staff training issues. In addition, the successful candidate will monitor, review and perform case issue resolution of CBO's and approved private-service homes, as well as consult and educate the community at large. These objectives will be achieved by applying appropriate social work methods in the implementation of divisional programs in the region with the primary goal of restoring, maintaining and enhancing the community inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will also be required to supervise and monitor the work of new social workers and practicum students on an assigned/as required basis.
To qualify, you will possess a Bachelor of Social Work or a Bachelor of Indian Social Work and related experience. A valid driver's license is required as travel may be necessary.
