Full Description
Working closely as a key member of the Communications & Engagement team, this position leads communications and public engagement initiatives and the planning, development, design, and production of a variety of visual tools, publications, advertisements, and signage.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for communications and public engagement initiatives
- Review, write, edit and produce communications and public engagement materials
- Build and maintain online public engagement project pages and tools using the Bang the Table platform
- Design and book public hearing advertisements
- Design development application signage
- Design bulletins and information sheets
- Review customer service processes, procedures, and forms
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications (or a related field) plus a minimum of three years of job-related experience
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- Attention to detail, fact-checking and proof-reading abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgement and independent decision-making skills
- Knowledge of communications and public engagement principles, best practices, and related technology is an asset
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the City and with external contacts.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, plus strong MS Office skills (creating Word templates and PowerPoint presentations)
- Working knowledge of professional printing techniques and standards
