The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly-motivated Bridge Preservation Engineer with strong interpersonal and leadership skills to join Bridge Branch in Prince Albert.
Working with other transportation professionals in a project environment, you will be responsible for engineering activities associated with the inspection, design, construction, preservation and strength assessment of bridges located on the provincial highway system. This position involves working on a wide range of bridges and large culverts on the provincial highway network. You must be willing to work occasional irregular hours, travel extensively throughout the province, and work in a field environment.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of structural engineering related to bridge preservation, design, evaluation, construction and bridge inspection practices as well as knowledge of bridge and culvert hydraulic design, foundation design and material science. You will also possess the ability to manage projects from start to finish and gather relevant information, analyze data, identify workable options and make sound engineering decisions. It will also be an asset to have relevant experience managing technical staff.
To qualify for the Bridge Preservation Engineer position, you must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with numerous years of relevant experience in Structural Engineering. You must be eligible to register for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). Knowledge in the areas of asset management, maintenance and preservation, project management, operations, design, construction, contract administration and contract law would be key assets of an individual for this role.
