New Job Youth Initiative Coordinator In New Brunswick

The City of Miramichi is located in Northumberland County, in the northeast Province of New

Brunswick and has a population of 17,692 as of the 2021 census. Like most communities, the

municipality is home to an unknown number of youth at risk of current or future criminogenic

behavior, who would benefit from designated activities or intervention.

The Province of New Brunswick and the City of Miramichi currently employee a number of

individuals who, in some fashion, interact with youth at risk. The community, however, does

not have a coordinated program designed to research, develop, plan, and implement activities

and initiatives for these youth.

The Federal Government has provided the City of Miramichi with funding for a three (3) year

project to design and implement activities or initiatives for youth at risk of criminogenic

behavior, including gun and/or gang violence. As a result, the City has established a committee

of professionals to oversee the development and implementation of programs designed to

address the specific needs of this community.
