Full Description
Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Affairs, the Video Production Specialist is responsible for independently performing a wide variety of video production duties related to the production of quality internal/external videos to meet promotional, informational and foremost the training needs of the Winnipeg Police Service.
Video Production Specialist is a highly skilled technical position, which requires a self-motivated, organized and creative individual. This position does not receive any technical direction in the performance of their duties.
As the Video Production Specialist you will:
- Play the combined role of producer, director, lighting technician, videographer, floor director, sound person, editor, computer graphic artist, and perform production duties
- In the role of producer and director, perform pre-production duties
- In the role of producer/director/duplicator/administrative person perform post production duties
- Provide A/V support to members of the WPS and other City Departments
- Administrative responsibilities
Your education and qualifications include:
- Diploma in Broadcasting, Creative Communications, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree, an asset
- Certification in professional computer editing software, an asset
- 36 months experience in video production and directing with technical background
- Demonstrated basic level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Working knowledge of professional computer editing software
- Working knowledge of Photoshop, Teleprompter and DVD authoring software
- Advanced skills in photography (composition, lighting)
- Advanced videographer skills (composition, lighting, artistic)
- Strong sound recording skills (on location, in studio)
- Creative design skills (computer graphics, animations, graphic design, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad variety of client groups including WPS members and staff at all levels, the public and external suppliers
- Ability to interpret situations, problem solve and formulate sound work judgments
- Strong verbal / written communication and collaboration skills in order to create detailed instructional scripts for multi-media productions
- Strong organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to work independently in a high stress environment, prioritizing and coordinating work
- Ability to shift priorities at a moment’s notice, while handling and accomplishing many tasks simultaneously
- Ability to deal discreetly with confidential matters
- The ability to acquire a working knowledge of the WPS policies and procedures and to understand how such must be portrayed clearly and concisely in video productions
- Ability to provide technical support for a Podcast, an asset
- The ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, safe and healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological and social working relationships with members at all levels in a team environment

Minimum Requirements:
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Minimum 18 years of age
- No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs)
- No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted
Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to pass a level 3 Winnipeg Police Service security check and maintain clearance
- Ability to successfully complete additional training as defined by the Service
- Valid Full Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License
- Prior to commencement of employment, the successful applicant will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by providing a Government of Manitoba issued QR code and photo identification or providing proof of an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination approved by the Government of Manitoba
