The Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills provides leadership and direction for post-secondary education and skills training systems in British Columbia as well as labour market information and programs.

The Senior Executive Assistant provides confidential executive administrative support to the Deputy Minister. Specifically, the Senior Executive Assistant plans, organizes and carries out required office duties to ensure that all matters are handled efficiently and effectively, and that the Deputy Minister is organized and well prepared for all occasions.

Highly organized, you capably prioritize and manage your workload to meet deadlines, using your outstanding eye for detail to ensure all work is carried out to a high standard. You are an effective communicator, able to successfully establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of partners and demonstrate initiative and good judgment in applying procedures within established policies and guidelines.

Job Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation plus courses in public administration, business administration or a related field, one (1) year experience providing administrative support in a senior executive office (i.e. Assistant Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, Executive Director) and *related experience; OR,
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent, three (3) or more years experience providing administrative support in a senior executive office (i.e. Assistant Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, Executive Director) and *related experience.
  • Related experience must include:
  • Minimum three (3) years managing an electronic calendar for senior management or executive, including scheduling and updating meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience drafting, formatting and proofreading a variety of documents, including confidential correspondence, memos, detailed reports and presentations.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working in a fast-paced, high volume and/or deadline-oriented environment.
  • Experience managing administrative processes and providing direction on briefing materials, reports and correspondence.
  • Experience liaising with senior level officials, and private and/or public sector stakeholders on a wide range of issues often of a sensitive, confidential, and urgent nature.
  • Experience maintaining electronic records and tracking approvals
