The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking individuals to join the Community Services Branch, as Probation and Parole Officer II and Victim Services Coordinator. Selected candidates will be responsible for a wide variety of adult and youth probation services and programs or working with victims of crime.
This competition will be used to establish an inventory of qualified candidates to fill Probation Officers as well as Victim Services Coordinators vacancies (permanent, secondment, temporary or casual opportunities) throughout the Department's regional operations. Specific locations have not been determined.
What you will do
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
Responsibilities of the Probation and Parole Officer will include the investigation and preparation of pre-sentence reports, preparing case plans and attending court, supervision and guidance of those on probation, community service orders, fine option, alternative measures programs, conditional sentences and other related duties.
The Victim Services Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating services for victims. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to providing information and guidance, coordinating referrals to therapists providing court preparation and support, liaising with police and other community agencies ensuring a continuum of care, and other related duties.
Work environment
- Office location: North Region, South Region, East Region, Central Region
- Office layout: Office
- Some positions may be required to work in our Correctional Centres
- Your Team: Probation Officers, Victim Services Coordinators, Regional Director and Administrative Support
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 4:30

Need to have:
- University Degree in one of the related Social Sciences (ie. Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Social Work)
Nice to have:
- Experience in a Correctional environment or in Counselling.
The successful candidates may be required to complete the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 questionnaire.
Written and spoken competence in English will be required for some positions. Other positions will require written and spoken competence in English and French. Please state your language capability.

Wage
$ 2,483 to $ 3,049 Bi-weekly
