As an entry level petroleum engineer in the Gas Production department, you will participate in the planning, management and execution of engineering projects related to the development, optimization and maintenance of the City's natural gas and petroleum assets. Gas Production is accountable for the safe, efficient and cost effective operation and development of our mineral leases, wells, gathering systems and processing facilities.

Our ideal candidate

  • Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and prior exposure to Accumap/Geoscout, Wellview and other industry standard industry applications would be advantageous.
  • Will gather and analyze data according to prescribed procedures and investigate alternative technical solutions and recommend preferred methods.
  • Assist with the coordination of consultants, contractors, service companies, and well operators in the execution of engineering projects.
  • Ensure that all site development and optimization projects are conducted in accordance with all applicable regulations and City policy and procedures.
  • Must have sound engineering skills at the undergraduate level and have well developed problem solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Bachelors of Science degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognized post secondary institution.
  • Up to 6 years of related industry experience.
  • Recent acquisition of professional designation, or eligible for Engineering-In-Training (EIT) membership with the Association of Professional Engineers. Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA)
  • A management approved combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
