The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Audit Services team as a Client Investigator. The position is based out of the Saint John office and reports to a Central Office Supervisor.

As a member of the Audit Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible to conduct in-home interviews, that may be geographically isolated, with clients to obtain up to date information on their situation as it relates to their continuing eligibility for financial assistance; verify the information through third party checks; interpret Departmental policies and procedures to determine client's continuing eligibility for assistance; identify overpayments; document and report findings of investigations to the Department and make recommendations as to actions to be taken in these cases. This includes gathering relevant evidence and preparing reports for the prosecution of fraud cases, and making court appearances to present the evidence from the investigation. Duties also involve having contact with various government agencies and with the public in general. Other responsibilities may be assigned as required. The candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from University at the bachelor level with a degree.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience in conducting in-home interviews with clients;
  • Experience in verifying information through third party checks; and
  • Experience in documenting and reporting findings of investigations.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

operational requirements: Applicants must be able to transport themselves for work purposes. Travel within the region and some travel within the Province is required to do home visits.
