Under the general supervision of the Stores Supervisor, the Inventory Systems Coordinator is responsible for: Monitoring the systems and processes necessary to operate the Department’s inventory and purchasing system; Administering Bid Opportunities and one-time purchase and standing order contracts for the supply and delivery of both inventory and non-inventory goods.
As the Inventory Systems Coordinator you will:
- Coordinate the systems, procedures and equipment necessary to purchase goods and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Administer Bid Opportunities and manage one time purchase and standing order contracts for the supply and delivery of inventory and non-inventory goods.
- Identify and implement improvements to Stores systems, procedures and equipment.
- Provide direction to staff when Stores Supervisor is on vacation.
- Perform any other duties consistent with the classification, as required.
Your education and qualifications include:
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma in a business related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Full Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent).
- Successful completion of the following within the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) accreditation program: Courses - 4 Principles courses or 4 thirteen week Module Credit(s) - 4 seminars, or 2 Interactive Workshops.
- Experience in purchasing and inventory management in a medium to large industrial operation.
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software and inventory management and purchasing software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and express ideas succinctly and professionally.
- Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations.
- Ability prioritizing work flows, dealing with multiple complex issues, and ensuring that all daily staffing, operational and emergency situations are handled appropriately.
- Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful conditions, while maintaining professional conduct.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as outside agencies and the public.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Full Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent). Provincial equivalents will be accepted; however, out of province applicants must show proof of having transferred their license to Manitoba prior to their first day of employment.
- Driver’s Abstract (original copy) from the Manitoba Public Insurance (or provincial equivalent), satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate, at their expense. - Driver Safety Rating Scale Statement (original copy) from the Manitoba Public Insurance (or provincial equivalent), satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate, at their expense. - The successful candidate may be required to undergo a medical assessment at the Occupational Health Branch.
- Willingness and ability to work in an industrial environment (i.e. dry, humid and/or dusty air, noise, fumes and variations in temperature).
- A thorough working knowledge of City of Winnipeg and WFPS purchasing policies and procedures (within three months of the appointment).
- A thorough knowledge of WFPS inventory management practices and equipment (within 12 months of the appointment).
- Successful completion of the following within the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) accreditation program: Credit(s) - 3 additional seminars or 3 additional Interactive Workshops Courses - 5 Management courses or 4 seven week Modules (within 36 months of the appointment).
- S.C.M.P. Designation Program through the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA) accreditation program (within 48 months of the appointment).
