As the Instructional Designer, you will develop curriculum and materials that address the diverse learning needs of staff in Water Services. Specifically, this position conducts needs assessments, designs curriculum, develops learning materials, and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and courses. A particular focus is to design and develop hands-on, practical learning activities to support the development of job-specific competencies. Primary duties include:
  • Work closely with multiple subject matter experts, stakeholders and trainers to ensure that courses and materials meet identified business needs
  • Conduct research, complete needs assessments, and determine performance and learning objectives in designing competency-based training and development programs.
  • Ensure content follows organizational policy and is in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Design and create effective learning resources such as learner and facilitator guides, exercises, presentations, e-courses, job aids, etc.
  • Use knowledge of adult learning principles to assist in the ongoing development of staff.
  • Design and implement assessment tools to evaluate learning.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Adult Learning, Human Resources, Education, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in the instructional design of adult or workplace learning, particularly in technical or operations settings.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in instructional design, adult learning theory, program evaluation, research and change management.
  • Certification as a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Experience with content authoring software (such as Adobe InDesign, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise) and developing e-learning would be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, along with facilitation and presentation skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $40.08 - 53.57 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
