Do you want to work at a growing digital agency that has grown 4x in the last two years, values professional growth and the contribution of its staff, and is looking to nurture best practices in HR? As Evolving Web's HRBP, you'll have responsibility for growing our team in a sustainable and strategic way.This position would suit someone with mid-level HR experience in a technology or design-oriented company and with a proven track record of success in recruitment and employee success. You'll work directly with the leadership team to ensure that HR functions are running smoothly and reflect the needs of Evolving Web and our staff. We're looking for someone who is proactive, a team leader, and will take ownership of new and existing initiatives. This role will report directly into the CEO, with close alignment with Senior Leadership.

Must be bilingual in English and French and familiar with Quebec HR norms.


This is a full-time, Montreal-based position, with a hybrid schedule of in-office three times per week.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources Management


  • Work directly with the two co-founders and senior leadership to ensure the success of all initiatives related to recruitment, performance reviews, retention, and career growth of our staff and contractors
  • Help drive decisions regarding benefits programs, professional development, and employee retention
  • Work closely with the leadership team to understand the staffing needs of the company in the present and future and report on HR metrics
  • Conduct employee relations; gather and report data/trends to Co-Founders and department heads, serve as a resource and coach to employees for work-related concerns and challenges
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure all HR files, policies and processes are compliant with federal laws, provincial laws and agency policies, and records are properly maintained
  • Facilitate internal promotion and transfer opportunities for employees
  • Own and manage the immigration process for overseas employees coming to Montreal
  • Manage performance management process, including training employees and managers on the appraisal process, coaching managers on delivering feedback, and helping managers create development plans to address performance issues
  • Conduct exit interviews, identify trends/areas of concern to be addressed, pose potential solutions and ensure compliance of exit procedures
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation for voluntary and involuntary terminations
  • Manage HR communications and tools to keep staff informed of pertinent programs, policies and deadlines
  • Administer and communicate HR policies, procedures and benefits to staff; field employee questions; maintain employee handbook
  • Serve as functional and/or business representative on agency/office culture initiatives
  • Partner with Department Heads to identify training needs; research and recommend individual training opportunities as needed
  • Input information into the HRIS system as needed
  • Maintain manager and employee confidence by keeping human resources information confidential

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a mid-level human resources position
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical agency, marketing agency, or startup environment
  • 4+ years of experience working and communicating with diverse, multi-lingual, multi-cultural, international teams
  • 2+ years experience in a talent acquisition role
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) and have at least a strong grasp of French (written and spoken)
  • Experience with Quebec employment laws, controls, compliance, with extensive knowledge of provincial and federal employment/labor standards
  • Ability to grasp future trends in digital technologies and an understanding of the agency world
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Workable, and Google Suite

Nice-to-Haves

  • CHRP certification
  • 3+ years experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with Workable (ATS) and Collage (HRIS)
  • Fluency in French
