The opportunity:

Reporting to the Data Delivery Lead, the Digital Delivery Lead will be responsible for leading, rolling out, and supporting projects under the Digital & Data team within the Technology Department. This involves collaborating with business users, vendors, and technology teams to understand problems and opportunities and recommend solutions that enable the organization to meet its goals.

The Digital Delivery Lead will have a broad range of technical skills as well as the mindset and ability to foster collaboration between Technology and other stakeholders to advocate the delivery of key initiatives and projects.

The role will require parallel management and/or oversight of between 10 to 15 initiatives at any one time, delivered through multi-skilled teams. The incumbent will provide a sense of structure and order to each initiative, whilst also acting as a critical friend to the business and the digital & data team and be responsible for outcomes that deliver business value and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Being responsible for the delivery of digital & data products and delivering business value from those products in the wider business teams.
  • Engaging with, and managing, a wide range of internal and external parties and suppliers.
  • Negotiating with leadership and senior users to balance the demand on the Digital & Data Team, and to ensure that all expectations are managed with transparency and reality.
  • Managing and promoting the Demand Framework, including SLA monitoring and close collaboration with Data Governance and Data Exploitation teams.
  • Making decisions in relation to prioritization, planning, and control of active development initiatives.
  • Mobilizing others to drive and support initiatives; keeping all stakeholders up to date on project status and roadblocks.
  • Setting expectations with all stakeholders, executing, and communicating accordingly.
  • Engaging in difficult conversations with team members, products owners, and delivery partners when there are challenges or issues impeding delivery execution.
  • Identifying risks and issues that require leadership attention.
  • Articulating and clearly communicating complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner following stakeholder field of expertise.
  • Working effectively with Managers when needed to remediate risk around project delivery.
  • Engaging stakeholders (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Operations) as needed for consultation throughout the course of the project.
  • Tracking projects through each phase of project life cycle.
  • Working with all dependent teams and preparing execution plans.
  • Documenting project status & assisting team in maintaining information repositories.
  • Pro-actively identifying risks, maintaining the project risk tracker, and communicating project risks to management.
  • Preparing work back schedules, road maps, project statuses, and capacity planning at a project level.
  • Being accountable for tracking dependencies, impediments, and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate.
  • Coordinating operation readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc.).
  • Ensuring a balance between team capacity and workload is kept in order to achieve a successful project delivery.
  • Supporting app releases & roll out related activities.
  • Contributing to the productivity of the team.
  • Supporting project team members in challenging situations (resource / release challenges, cross-team communication).
  • Scheduling ad-hoc meetings to solve for disagreements or ambiguities to reduce risk of jeopardizing milestones and or artifacts.
  • Easing difficult conversations and promoting a constructive attitude.
  • Facilitating and ensuring healthy communication between project team members.
  • Scheduling and chairing scrum ceremonies.
  • Being accountable for conducting regular retros and addressing team’s feedback.
  • Understanding team strengths and weaknesses in order to improve each phase of the project lifecycle.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information management or equivalent combination of experience.
  • A business analyst or PM accreditation, including CSM or PMP, is an asset.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in leading digital and/or data projects/programs.
  • Knowledge of software development practice, concepts/methodologies (i.e., Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), and technologies obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
  • Knowledge of one or more requirements analysis and problem decomposition techniques.
  • Knowledge of technical/business environment (e.g., Microsoft business technologies and applications, relational databases, and SharePoint).
  • An understanding of industry standards and standard business capabilities.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, project delivery practices, and standards across the project lifecycle.
  • A deep understanding and problem-solving ability of Information Technology, of various complexities.
  • Familiarity with business strategy and assessments (i.e., feasibility studies, business cases and/or cost/benefit, project sizing and costing, and current state analysis/needs assessments).
  • Expert verbal & written communication skills; additionally, expert analytical, problem-solving, and influence skills.
  • An expert ability to collaborate and act as part of a team, with a focus on cross-group collaboration.
  • Expert data-driven decision-making skills.
  • An ability to manage ambiguity.
