New Job Data Scientist (6 Month Contract) In Alberta

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Planning, the Data Scientist will be responsible for performing advanced reporting/business analysis and upgrading systems/processes to new and more efficient technologies. They will work with all areas of the business to provide analysis and present recommendations to assist with new initiatives, day to day business, or to solve business problems.

• Assist in design/implementation of business systems and processes.

• Perform data analysis to support ad-hoc requests.

• Convert data into business insights and recommendations.

• Use data visualization techniques where possible for quicker insight & improved user experience.

• Create unified datasets to support business needs by connecting and transforming data from different sources.

• Design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.

What you bring

• 2+ years of experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot.

• 2+ years of experience in SQL, Power Query, Knime, Synapse or other similar data modeling tools.

• 2+ years of experience with Machine Learning technology/solutions.

• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)

• Knowledge of R, SQL and Python.

• Familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset

• Ability to translate technical processes into business language.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Understanding how to best leverage data to improve business process.

• Ability to formulate or quickly understand business problems, find patterns and insights within structured and unstructured data.

• Ability to clearly communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.

• Have a good eye for and an understanding of visual report design principles.

• Ability to execute multiple projects and drive key business results under tight deadlines.

• Self-starter attitude with willingness to learn and master new technologies.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
