Corporate Controller

Job Summary

The corporate controller will be responsible for the accounting, compliance, and financial activities of the various holding companies of Pinnacle Auto Group and the monthly combined financial statements of all the entities. He or she will also be responsible for reporting to the bank and monitoring and reporting financial covenants.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Work with dealership controllers to oversee the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Oversee training programs and identify training needs of the team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the documented system of accounting policies and procedures and implementing a system of internal controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE)
  • Reports on benchmarks that will be used to measure performance (weekly and monthly)
  • Assists the CFO and dealership controllers in producing the annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Provides financial analysis and assists in contract negotiations.
  • Works with external accountants and assists in providing required information for annual reviews and notice to readers.
  • Ensures compliance with provincial and federal government requirements for holdcos.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Monitors and reports to CFO on banking covenants monthly.
  • Ensures the reconciliation of all the related party transactions and balances.
  • Track and ensure compliance of annual company renewals.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite – specifically Microsoft Excel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • Chartered Public Accountant or similar designation preferred.

Other requirements

  • Ability to travel as needed.
