Full Description

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Coordinator, Intellectual Property for a 12 month term to join our Investment Services team. This is a casual position with varied hours. Reporting to the Director of Investment Services and working closely with the Senior Manager of Market Intelligence, the successful candidate will coordinate intellectual property services for SMEs in collaboration with NRC IRAP, 3rd party funding agencies, law firms, and intellectual property firms. The role involves coordinating outsourced training, strategy/landscape, and market intelligence reports, ensuring positive client interaction, and managing invoices and tracking. The candidate will interact with internal and external groups professionally and in a timely manner, matching SMEs with suitable intellectual property service suppliers across industries such as Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Agri-Food, Biomedical, Bioproducts, Clean Tech, Construction, ICT, and Mining. This position works with external contacts within the Prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba).

Reporting to the Director of Investment Services and working closely with the Senior Manager of Market Intelligence, the Coordinator, Intellectual Property is responsible for, but is not limited to the following:
Gathers IP information from clients (e.g., patents, inventions, etc.) supplied by NRC IRAP ITAs, and matches appropriate service providers.
Determines the service the client industry requires and the relevant industry-related expert service companies and refers to up to three service providers for selection, then coordinates the work between the service provider, tracks relative information, and provides invoicing documentation.
Documents and tracks relevant information to each transaction for reporting.
Documents and communicates expectations, timelines, and service completion.
Works with Sr. Management Market Intelligence for program changes and enhancements.
Documents and supplies invoicing data for the supplier side and client side for proper invoicing.
Responds to general client questions and work with Senior Management Market Intelligence to resolve any outstanding issues or changes.
Works with Senior Management Market Intelligence to source basic market intelligence as required for building client market intelligence reports.
Gathers market intelligence from defined sources to help coordinate market intelligence reports.

Qualifications:
Currently a student, or a recent graduate from a University bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, or Science
Experience in a business environment related to technology, knowledge-based industry sector, or product development setting.
Understanding of business concepts, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and new market strategies
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines
Ability to work both in a team environment as well as independently
Ability to manage multiple stakeholder/client relationships having diverse agendas/expectations
Planning and priority management skills
Exceptional verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal skills to con
