Position Overview:
The City of Saint John is currently seeking a Controls Systems Specialist to join our Saint John Water team. The incumbent will perform specialized work of a highly technical nature to maintain, repair, test, service, install and operate all aspects of Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System related to water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and associate systems.

Essential Qualifications:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to) operating and maintaining the tools and equipment required to complete specialized functions, carries out specialized tasks in accordance with the project management plan, understands verbal and written instructions and provides feedback on the progress and quality of work, prepares written comments with respect to the completion of work activities and carries out high quality and safe work in accordance with recognized workplace standards.

The successful applicant will have a related Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, (Electrical, Industrial Control, or Instrumentation would be considered an asset).

Experience with the following will be considered an asset:
o Rockwell Automation products including Factory Talk SE,
o KepWare,
o GE MDS Radios
o Proxim Wireless Systems
o PLC programing and SCADA system maintenance
o Allan Bradley / Schneider PLC’s
o SCADA communication protocols including ModBUS and DNP3
o Ethernet / Wireless radio communications
o Industrial networking & cybersecurity
o Water/wastewater systems operations and regulatory requirements
o Operation and administration of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016/2019
