Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week

Salary: $27.30 per hour + 6%

Closing Date: Open until filled

This employment opportunity is open to current high school or post-secondary Inuit students who reside in Iqaluit with the exception of those away for school.

Summer Students provide general labour and maintenance services to the Ciy of Iqaluit’s landfill and/or assist in carrying out municipal services within the Public Works Department.

The incumbent must be dependable, punctual, physically fit, and must be willing to work in harsh outdoor weather conditions in areas with obnoxious smells. They must also be responsible and capable to work independently, as well as, in a team setting and be able to handle working under time constraints.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Student (High School or Post-secondary)
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and the general public
• Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 30lbs
• Ability to follow directions and instructions
• Capability to perform duties safely and efficiently
• Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures
• Ability to speak Inuktitut or French is a definite asset

It is a requirement of this position to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check. It is recommended these are requested at time of application due to the processing times of these documents.
