The BC Coroners Service (BCCS) is responsible, under the Coroners Act, for conducting thorough, independent investigations of all factors contributing to the unexpected, unattended or unexplained deaths of persons in BC; and for issuing related recommendations to assist in preventing future deaths and improving community safety and quality of life for all British Columbians. The Coordinator, Learning and Development, is responsible for applying adult learning approaches and strategies to the initiation and ongoing management of BCCS specific learning and development programs. This position oversees the development and delivery of internal learning programs, conducts needs assessments, develops curriculum, facilitates train-the-trainer training, provides mentoring / coaching to ministry staff to deliver programs, manages contracts, provides evaluation of performance, and monitors service deliverables.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or higher in Social Services, Human Services, or related field, with recognized Adult Education credentials at the certificate, diploma or degree level and a minimum of two (2) years *related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


  • Related experience includes:
  • Experience in planning, developing, and implementing training and professional development initiatives.
  • Experience with project planning on complex projects with multiple stakeholders under strict timelines and budget constraints.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery of adult learning initiatives.
  • Experience with computer applications and databases.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in the development and delivery of Occupational Health and Safety learning programs.
  • Experience working with post-secondary partners on joint learning and development projects.


PROVISO/WILLINGNESS

  • May be required to travel outside of geographic location periodically.
