As an Accounting Project Coordinator (APC), you will be responsible for the coordination of accounting standard implementation and financial reporting projects. You will engage with business unit operations and Finance to determine effective processes that meet financial reporting requirements and support financial reporting analysis. Primary duties include:
  • Design and deliver project scope and plan in collaboration with financial reporting, business unit finance, operations, and corporate resources.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and reports.
  • Identify and escalate project issues and risks developing recommendations for resolution.
  • Review and assess operational data for accounting purposes.
  • Work with Financial Reporting to understand and interpret technical accounting standards.
  • Provide support to Financial Reporting in analysis and preparation of financial schedules.
  • Consult and collaborate with participants to understand goals and project outcomes through committees, meetings, and presentations.
  • Direct and coordinate cross-functional team members.
  • Obtain sponsor approval by managing project implementation taking into consideration City policies and procedures and collaborating with corporate resources such as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Communications and Corporate Security to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
  • A degree and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with at least 5 years of progressive financial experience which includes leading financial projects.
  • Completed training or courses in Project Management and/or a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation will be considered asset.
  • Previous experience with public sector accounting standards, Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) will also be considered assets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills accompanied by well-developed presentation and facilitation skills are essential.
  • You have the ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate with participants from various levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.

work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
