On Call Manager

We serve those who identify as women and their children who are fleeing violence. We operate with a feminist philosophy grounded in human rights, to promote social change and end all forms of violence.

As a casual Manager of the Women’s Transition Home, you will collaborate with the management team to supervise the staff and ensure best practices in programs and service delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and supervises staff in service delivery
  • Covers when other managers are on leave or require assistance

  • Create positive working relations with other staff based on team work, respect, cooperation and shared decision making

  • Maintain confidentiality of the management team, victim information, and private Society records

  • Assist in the development of polies and procedures

  • All aspects of HR including; recruitment, training, supervision, evaluations and corrective measures

  • Maintain a 24/7 staffing schedule

  • Maintain good relationships with community agencies and connections to other women’s groups

  • Participate in community working groups and represent the Society

  • Create and present workshops and information session when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Sound knowledge and understanding of violence against women and the realities facing of Indigenous women

Proven management experience in a fast paced stressful environment (5 years)

Some on-call and after hours/weekend work required

Experience in a unionized work environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of Response-Based Practice an asset

Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgment in stressful situations

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, to set priorities, and to meet funding requirements

Proficiency in Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint communications
