POSITION SUMMARY

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Sergeant-at-Arms Department is seeking two professional, diligent and customer service-oriented individuals for the regular full-time position of Protective Services Assistant.

Reporting to the Sergeant (Day Shift), the Protective Services Assistant provides administrative support to the Legislative Assembly Protective Services (LAPS) team. The role performs general reception duties and acts as an initial point of contact for LAPS inquiries from Members, LABC employees, external organizations and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be/have:

  • Secondary School graduation, plus one year of administrative experience or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • Experience coordinating events, meetings and associated communications.
  • Experience with current software and computer applications including Excel, Word and Outlook

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and Adobe products including InDesign and Acrobat Pro are considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary courses in office administration are considered an asset.
