Full Description

Objectives

· To strive to ensure the highest quality of food service to restaurant and banquet guests and patrons

· To meet or exceed the expectations of our customers with respect to food quality, consistency and presentation

Duties and Responsibilities

· To place food orders in accordance with guidelines for product quality and freshness, as established by the Food Services Manager

· To receive, store and rotate fresh, frozen, canned and dry food products to ensure freshness and minimize spoilage

· To participate in advance processing and preparation of food products in accordance with guidelines, checklists and the day-to-day needs of the business

· To prepare restaurant food orders in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with recipes and presentation standards

· To participate in preparation of banquet food in accordance with recipes, guidelines, checklists and function contracts

· To contribute ideas and recipes for new menu items and/or specials

· To maintain a sanitary environment for all work stations, coolers, freezers and storage areas

· To clean and maintain all kitchen appliances during and at the end of each shift

· To minimize spoilage and/or wastage of food products through use or re-use of processed or unprocessed items in soups and/or specials

· To utilize all available working time in advance processing and preparation of food products or maintaining the highest possible standards of sanitation and cleanliness

· Other duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements and Expectations

· Must be a graduate of a commercial cooking program or culinary arts program from a recognized college or institution, or have equivalent culinary training or experience

· Must understand and comply with standards for food preparation, portion sizes and presentation, as established by the Food Services Manager

· Must be able to work with and communicate easily with other team members (other cooks, servers and dishwashers/kitchen helpers)

· Must be capable of heavy lifting

· Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision

· Must be available to work any scheduled and/or call-in shifts, including evenings and weekends

· Must dress and groom according to standards established from time to time

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: From $16.02 per hour

Experience:

  • Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)

Work Location: One location
