The mission of Amal Youth and Family Centre is to provide a range of innovative services responsive to the needs of individuals, families and communities. Amal aims to provide trauma-informed, neuro-diverse, and culturally, racially, linguistically, and developmentally sensitive services for youth and families, and to promote diversity in all forms with respect to citizenship status, culture, religion, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexuality, age, and ability.

We are currently recruiting in St. John’s for the following positions:

Group Home Shift Supervisor

(2 positions, full-time, permanent)

The Shift Supervisor facilitates and oversees the daily operation of group care for young people with complex needs. Alongside the Child and Youth Care team, the Shift Supervisor engages in relational practice in the life space to create healing environments and promote growth and development. Specific duties and responsibilities include implementing a structured daily routine; engaging young people in social, recreational, and educational activities; teaching life skills and emotional regulation skills; working collaboratively with family members; de-escalating crisis situations and utilizing crisis as an opportunity to promote change. The Shift Supervisor also provides on-site guidance, support and supervision to child and youth care workers.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a diploma or bachelor’s degree in child and youth care, psychology or a related field, a minimum of five years of experience working with young people with complex needs, demonstrated leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are a must.

The ability to work evenings and weekends is a must.

The position also requires a clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RNC or RCMP; Child Protection Record Check; First Aid/CPR certification; valid Driver’s license and use of a private vehicle while at work. Successful candidates must submit proof of residency and proof of Covid vaccination.

Salary Range: $56,160 - $71,677 - placement on the salary scale is commensurate with education and experience.
