The Ministry of Highways provides a safe, reliable transportation system that supports Saskatchewan’s economic competitiveness and quality of life. We strive to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure to serve the needs of citizens. The ministry is seeking to fill an eighteen (18) month term for Director of Financial Services in the Corporate Services Division (CSD).

This position will lead and deliver all aspects of financial management for the Ministry. In carrying out these responsibilities, the position provides advice and recommendations on financial and reporting policy issues of both a strategic and operational nature.

Reporting to the Executive Director this position will also be responsible for financial statement schedules, accounts receivable, accounts payable and related audits, and provide financial and accounting advice and expertise to ministry program managers regarding government accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles to ensure sound accountability and strong fiscal management.

The successful candidate must demonstrate proven interpersonal and communication skills and extensive knowledge of accounting policy, practices, and principles. The incumbent must be able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment to establish, build and maintain positive working relationships and to ensure deadlines, goals and objectives are met.

Knowledge and abilities required for this position will be gained through a professional accounting designation (CPA) and a degree in commerce or business administration, along with a minimum of five years accounting experience. A solid understanding of financial and audit principles is necessary in this role.

Travel will be required, approximately 5% of the time.
