Full Description

Overview:

  • To assist Controller in daily and month-end accounting and administrative duties.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees.
  • Complete bank reconciliations in Jonas & Excel.
  • Actively be involved in day-to-day operations and resolving member queries.
  • Analysis & reconciliation of GL accounts, maintaining schedules and spreadsheets.
  • Aid in preparing the year-end audit file and other tasks as requested by the Controller.
  • Provide support for Accounting Assistant & Administrative Assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Timely & accurate bi-weekly processing of payroll.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate vacation accounts for all employees.
  • Setup & maintain the employees in Ceridian Powerpay & Advanced Tracker.
  • Prepare monthly remittances for two unions.
  • Assist with employee inquiries by providing information as required.

Accounting:

  • Prepare & process journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations & analysis of various accounts.
  • Bank reconciliation using JONAS software & Microsoft Excel.
  • Prepare and submit monthly GST, PST, WCB & EHT.
  • Assist in maintaining up to date inventory records.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements.
  • Perform general office & accounting duties as they required.
  • Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts.
  • Assist in the compilation, coordination & distribution of budget templates to the managers.
  • Complete the monthly working papers.
  • Calculate the entrance fee discount for the members with early payout.
  • Assist the Controller with the year-end audit.
  • Monitor all financial functions and escalate any issues to the Controller in a timely manner.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 4 years of experience in a similar role. Work experience in the Club industry, would be considered a major asset.
  • Must have completed full-cycle accounting.
  • Diploma or certification in accounting/business.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize & complete the tasks in a timely manner.
  • Experience in JONAS Club Management Software would be considered an asset.
  • Must be a quick learner and work well in a team environment.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational & communication skills.
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word & Outlook.
  • Strong English (written and spoken).

Job Type: Full-time; Regular Office Hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
