Performing Arts Web Content Administrator

LOCATION: Hybrid Model – when working onsite, you will report to the location of 8 Nelson Street West
HOURLY RATE: $17.80 per hour

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Box Office Coordinator, the Web Content Administrator is responsible for populating and maintaining content for the established websites managed by the Performing Arts Division to ensure that the assigned website is functional, accurate, and up to date.
    • Population, maintenance, collection and coordination of website content as provided by the marketing and box office teams
    • Provide input into websites structure, design, and overall functionality
    • Identifies useful site performance metrics and use this data to make recommendations to improve the site content, navigation and services
    • Liaise and collaborate with internal IT regarding content, design and functionality, including issue and error management
    • Liaise with website and ticketing software host vendor regarding upgrades, functionality, support and training
    • Analyze problems, issues, and proposals and recommend solutions for approval
    • Implement appropriate course of action for recommended solutions or liaise with internal IT for implementation
    • Research, benchmark, and conduct user testing of other organizations using the same or similar website and ticketing software and identify areas for improvement including new features, enhanced functionality and the improvement of user navigation and experience
    • Participate as a member of the project team responsible for procurement of web designer and acquisition of ticketing software, which may include testing and analyzing websites and software
    • Develop and maintain documentation of website administration processes (User Handbook)
    • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
    • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
    • Attend meetings/training as required
    • Performs other duties as assigned

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:
    • High School (Grade 12) or equivalent, plus an additional program of over two years and up to three years In Business Technology, Information/ Computer Systems/ Web Technology programs or equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years experience in web content administration and technical writing
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
    • Thorough understanding of website design and administration
    • In-depth knowledge of CSS, HTML, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design
    • Experience creating cross-browser compatible and standards compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Experience in application and site debugging, profiling, and optimization
    • Extensive cross-browser HTML, XML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge, experience with mobile-first development and responsive layouts
    • Familiarity with Web infrastructure technologies like SSL and DNS
    • Understanding of Bootstrap framework
    • Experience with modern browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari
    • Experience with modern browser debug and development tools (Google Developer console)
    • Designing for various media: desktop, tablet, and mobile
    • Embedding videos, images, widgets
    • Understanding of media file types and sizes
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a broad knowledge of web development techniques and principles
    • Experience with AudienceView Ticketing Platform and Website software, an asset
    • Stong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.
