About Miller Atlantic:
Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate- based materials, highway operations and maintenance services.
Summary:
The work assignment will involve many aspects of Civil Construction and/or Road Construction and Paving operations. During the work term, the candidate will be on a construction project assisting the Project Management Team. The work experience and projects assigned will vary depending on the candidate’s ability and the scope of the job.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate subcontractor and suppliers
- Track project costs and productions
- Assist foreman and superintendents in their daily tasks
- Assist in project planning and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications
- Assist with the preparation of thorough, accurate and timely estimates
- Assist with the preparation and submission of bid documents and the development of clear written proposals and correspondence
Requirements:
- Working towards a Civil Engineering Degree (1st or 2nd year preferred)
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
- Possess strong mathematical and computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office, MS Project and bidding software)
- Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills/time management skills
- Extensive travel required; must hold a minimum valid class 7.2 or class 5 driver’s licence
- Good understanding of budgets, costing and time tracking
- Willing to work flexible hours determined by demanding construction schedules, including nights and/or weekends
- Ability to travel extensively with extended stays away from home
