About Miller Atlantic:

Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate- based materials, highway operations and maintenance services.

Summary:

The work assignment will involve many aspects of Civil Construction and/or Road Construction and Paving operations. During the work term, the candidate will be on a construction project assisting the Project Management Team. The work experience and projects assigned will vary depending on the candidate’s ability and the scope of the job.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate subcontractor and suppliers
  • Track project costs and productions
  • Assist foreman and superintendents in their daily tasks
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications
  • Assist with the preparation of thorough, accurate and timely estimates
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of bid documents and the development of clear written proposals and correspondence

Requirements:

  • Working towards a Civil Engineering Degree (1st or 2nd year preferred)
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office, MS Project and bidding software)
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills/time management skills
  • Extensive travel required; must hold a minimum valid class 7.2 or class 5 driver’s licence
  • Good understanding of budgets, costing and time tracking
  • Willing to work flexible hours determined by demanding construction schedules, including nights and/or weekends
  • Ability to travel extensively with extended stays away from home
