This is clerical and accounting work of some complexity involving the processing of financial records and related documentation using a computerized applications for the City of Burnaby RCMP Detachment. An incumbent prepares a variety of accounting and statistical documents such as financial tracking statements, invoice payments and inventory listings using an electronic spreadsheet and database software to access and/or create documents incorporating basic mathematical formulae and to enter, format, balance, edit, merge, delete and print the data as directed; reviews expense claims, overtime claims, cell phone useage and kit and clothing request forms submitted by members for accuracy and entitlement; follows up on discrepancies and submits to headquarters for processing or to a superior for follow up; receives, verifies and records cash receipts and prepares bank deposit slips authorizes routine purchases within specific guidelines and reconciles credit card statements with invoices charged; maintains files for detachment vehicles; receives invoices from contract suppliers for expenses incurred; checks same for accuracy and completeness and resolves discrepancies; itemizes and codes prior to submitting for payment authorization; prepares files regarding accident or damage incidents involving detachment vehicles; ensures that the necessary documentation has been completed; maintains related records and prepares regular reports on each vehicle. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of grade 12 including or supplemented by related computer software, commercial, and bookkeeping courses plus sound related clerical and bookkeeping experience involving the use of microcomputers, preferably in a Police environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the applicable detachment filing, record keeping, account classification, purchasing and invoicing systems and procedures. Ability to use related software including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software in order to access and/or create spreadsheets and maintain related data; prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and financial reports, to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy, to perform incidental typing duties manually or using a computer terminal, and to compose routine correspondence.
