Hybrid Maintenance Mechanic/ Driver (CLASS 1 REQUIRED)

Location : YHZ - Halifax Stanfield International Airport

We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded, detail oriented, and focused professional to join our team in the position of Hybrid Maintenance Mechanic/Driver to oversee the safe and cost-effective repair of our equipment. When required will transport fluid between the airfield and the facility, and efficiently operate aircraft de-icing trucks for the purpose of de-icing aircraft during inclement weather at YHZ - Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

About the Position:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Supporting and abiding by the company’s Mission, Values and Purpose;
Actively promote adherence to and hold site employees accountable for leading safety and regulatory compliance with all local, provincial and federal rules and regulations. HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR UNSAFE ACTS!;
Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
Assist with mechanical repairs to all Inland equipment, including diagnosis and repair of engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical, hydraulic systems, brake repair and replacement, pump repair and/or replacement, etc.;
Perform routine maintenance on Inland equipment, such as oil changes, grease and lube services, inspections, and part changes;
Safely transport fluid between the facility and the airfield, or any other location, as required by operations management;
Assist maintenance staff with record keeping duties, including entering and completing wok orders;
Communicate daily with team members to ensure that all are informed about equipment status and expected outcome from the next shift on maintenance items that are outstanding;
Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;
Will undergo aircraft de-icing training and assist in the operations when needed.
Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin de-icing when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement. AIRCRAFT ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY;
To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.

Please Note: This position requires a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC), an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP), and a Class 1 driver's license.

Qualifications:
Interested candidates will have demonstrated expertise in the following required skills and experience:

Valid Class 1 driver’s license and experience driving fluid transport trucks;
General maintenance mechanic experience, including oil changes, greasing procedures, inspections, and similar;
Working knowledge of manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools;
Knowledge of fluid types, diesel-powered machines, and tools including their designs, uses repair and maintenance;
Successful completion of all classroom and OJT training;
Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to use Inland’s independent computer program “Ice Link – Aircraft Ground De-icing Management System”;
The ability to use an iPad and/or laptop;
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;
Must be comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas;
Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.

In this job, you can expect to “get your hands dirty” when you are supporting your team in the aircraft de-icing operations. Other physical demands include but are not limited to:

It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally and twenty (20) pounds regularly;
Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;
Ability to work in a confined space for extended periods of time;
Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.
