Economic Development Coordinator
Casual/On-Call
This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Economic Development Department to provide a variety of
administrative duties while supporting the team’s research and analysis work, customer relationship
management and project coordination.
Who you are:
You possess a degree or certificate in Commerce, Economic Development, Marketing, or Business
Administration and have 3 years clerical and administrative experience in current economic, business,
tourism, and community development planning procedures or an equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the close supervision of the Economic Development Officer, the Economic Development Coordinator performs a
variety of administrative duties while supporting the team’s research and analysis work, customer relationship
management and project coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
- Contributes to the success of our team, creation of our community, and delivering outstanding customer service
working together, acting with courage and enthusiasm, doing the right thing, and striving to do better every day.
- Follows the District of Squamish’s Customer Service Guidelines to ensure the Delivery of Outstanding Service.
- Supports customer relationship management (CRM) for Economic Development including, maintaining CRM
- As required, liaises with internal units (i.e. Planning, Engineering) to support their customer relationship
Communications and Marketing Support:
- Maintains collateral for the Economic Development Department.
- Drafts and edits economic development communications including correspondence, promotional material, and
- Liaises with the business community to assist the Economic Development in identifying needs and challenges to
- Assists in the preparation, publishing, and distribution of marketing and promotional materials, tools, and strategies.
- Assists in the preparation of individual investor and business-related relocation packages as well as bulk packages for
- Assists in the coordination, facilitation, and implementation of special events such as workshops and open houses.
Project Management Coordination & Research Support
- Conducts basic analysis and research by gathering information and statistics from existing data and information
- Creates and maintains databases and a reference library of relevant technical information such as federal, provincial,
information related to business and economic development.
Administration
- Maintains the team’s calendar including ensuring that the team is kept informed of priorities and deadlines.
- Maintains, updates, and files a variety of office records including monitoring bring-forward dates.
- Photocopies and distributes various materials and documents.
- Monitors and maintains adequate office supplies, resources, and subscriptions and advises the Economic
processing.
- Coordinates virtual and in person meetings and events, prepares, and distributes agenda packages, attends
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, mechanics, and objectives of economic development is an asset.
- Knowledge and practical experience with project and event coordination.
- Knowledge and experience with business retention and expansion programs is an asset.
- Knowledge of local legislation and information related to Community Services applications is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of statistics, statistical analysis, research principles and methodology
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, the ability to perform multiple duties simultaneously with deadlines, and the ability to
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of business English, basic arithmetic, and modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of database and contact management software an asset.
- Ability to retain confidential information.
- Ability to take and transcribe minutes and summarize discussions.
REQUIRED TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bondable
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 3 years clerical and administrative experience in current economic, business, tourism, and community development
AND
- A degree or certificate in Commerce, Economic Development, Marketing, or Business Administration
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience
