FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE:

The primary objective of the Economic Analyst is research, analyze and compile data for reports, overseeing a variety of assignments to evaluate and map the labour market, population, business ecosystem and more.

KEY SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Work with Ignite team to:

  • Research, compile, analyze, interpret and prepare data
  • Review and analyze economic data to prepare reports
  • Prepare preliminary analytical research reports and make recommendations
  • Conduct surveys for determining and analyzing statistics, wage information, labor supply and demand, tax revenues, agriculture production, and more
  • Develop economic forecasts utilizing econometric techniques
  • Maintain records and reports related to regional economic development
  • Assess economic impacts of various inputs
  • Perform related work as assigned
  • Work with local leadership to implement initiatives, projects and programs in accordance with economic development strategy
  • Represent the community on various committees as required

  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Strong research skills and familiarity with websites and applications such as Statistics Canada
  • Strong interpersonal & relationship building skills, ability to deal effectively with partners and stakeholders in the public and private sectors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills and a good listener
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Strong organization skills
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Enhanced reliability regarding confidential information
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred
  • Highly proficient computer skills, ability to operate within a CRM system (HubSpot), computerized spreadsheets and word processing programs at a highly proficient level
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions and judgments
  • Familiar with highly participative local government environments an asset
  • Flexible. Ability to work outside regular Monday to Friday business hours on occasion

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recognized university business degree with relevant area of study (i.e. statistics, economic and/or community development, business administration, etc.) or an acceptable combination of post-secondary education, experience and training
  • 3+ years relevant economic development experience an asset
  • Experience working in a collaborative, goal-oriented environment
