Job Summary

Bring your project administration support experience to this exciting role

The Declaration Act Secretariat coordinates, guides and assists the cross-government effort to work in consultation and cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to align laws with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as per section 3 of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (Declaration Act):

Measures to align laws with Declaration
3 In consultation and cooperation with the Indigenous peoples in British Columbia, the government must take all measures necessary to ensure the laws of British Columbia are consistent with the Declaration.

The Project and Administrative Coordinator provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial and financial support services for the branch and coordinates the day-to-day priorities of the manager, including providing liaison with ministry executive offices. This position provides project management support services throughout the project management life-cycle (i.e. initiation, planning, execution, control and close-out) in consultation with project managers.

Job Requirements:
Due to the nature of this role and in accordance with Section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code, only people of Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) will be considered for this opportunity.

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Experience and knowledge of project management and project management software applications.
  • Experience working in an office setting.
